"When you have to deal with a beast, you have to treat him as a beast. It is most regrettable but nevertheless true." (Harry S. Truman)
America's decision to drop the atomic bombs was necessary and justified because it put an immediate end to the war, saved countless American lives, and proved to all nations how powerful the United States was, and how dangerous atomic bombs are. The main reason that the atomic bombs were justified was how it put an immediate end to the war. Japan had bombed the U.S. angering millions of Americans. Instead of risking the lives of many American troops, the bomb-dropping saved lives, time, money, and supplies. Japan was in devastation and therefore could no longer retaliate. This necessary event proved to all nations and especially Japan, that the U.S. was not to be messed with. Furthermore, atomic bombs are not to be messed with, for the results are excruciatingly painful. The dropping of the atomic bombs was necessary because it ended the war and taught a universal lesson of the dangers of these deadly weapons.
