Evidence

1.  Roosevelt's speech about Pearl Harbor:

"Yesterday, Dec. 7, 1941 - a date which will live in infamy - the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.  I believe I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost, but will make very certain that this form of treachery shall never endanger us again."

This supports the justification of the atomic bombs.  Japan suprise-attacked the United States, killing 2,402 people, and injuring 1,282.  This horrific event caused the United States to retaliate.  But we didn't just want to retaliate, we wanted to show Japan and all nations what the consequence is of picking a fight with America.  Thus, the atomic bombs were dropped.

2.  An interview with Paul Tibbets (pilot of the Enola Gay):

"See, the first bomb went off and they didn't hear anything out of the Japanese for two or three days. The second bomb was dropped and again they were silent for another couple of days... the war was over."

This proves that dropping the atomic bombs put an end to the war.  If the bombing never happened, then a war could have broken out.  Also, because of this bombing, it saved time and it saved American lives.  But the ultimate and most important affect of all is that it stopped the war between the U.S. and Japan.

3.  Albert Einstein stated:

"President Roosevelt would have forbidden the atomic bombing of Hiroshima had he been alive and that it was probably carried out to end the Pacific war before Russia could participate."

"But there was some justification - the danger that the Germans would make them."

Einstein is known as one of the smartest men in the world; if not the smartest.  Even he knows that these bombs were necessary to end the war.  He also sent a letter to Roosevelt recommending that the bombs be made.  All of this is proof as to why America dropped the atomic bombs.

4.  Ralph Bard (Under Sec. of the Navy) stated:

"I don't see that we have anything in particular to lose in following such a program...the only way to find out is to try it out."

This statement is valid and true.  If America had never dropped the atomic bombs, then our world would never know of the dangers and horrors that come from these atomic weapons.  The only way we figured this out is by actually doing it.  The benefits that come from it are the immediate end to the war and the saving of American lives.

5.  Potsdam Declaration:

The Potsdam Declaration outlined the terms of surrender for Japan.  In this document, the U.S. stated that if Japan did not surrender, then they would face "prompt and utter destruction".  Japan's initial rejection of this led to the dropping of the atomic bombs.  If Japan would have surrendered then the bomb-dropping could have been prevented, therefore, it is justified for why the U.S. dropped these bombs.

6.  Admiral William D. Leahy stated:

"The lethal possibilities of atomic warfare in the future are frightening."

This statement is true.  Had America not dropped the atomic bombs, then future warfare might be safer.  But isn't it better to know what the worst is, then to not know at all?  This also shows and proves how dangerous the atomic bombs are.  The U.S. purposely did this to show how dangerous they are.  This makes the bomb-dropping justified once again.
